Open Your Heart to Keep Him Close

Exercise Your Heart...and Keep Him Close!

When we look in the mirror and see a little extra around the middle or try to fit onto our favorite jeans and can’t zip them, we go to the gym or start a running program and get in shape right?

No Problem…..we exercise and get fit.

So what do you do if your heart is out of shape? Not the physical heart muscle, but the emotional “heart?” Our “heart” is the place where we like to say our emotions live. What if we have a heart that’s a bit (or more than a bit) out of shape? Traumas of all kinds can leave this tender part of our energetic anatomy invisibly injured. Perhaps the superficial wound heals, but the cut was deep enough to leave a lasting mark.

When this happens, we tend to ignore it, stay away from it or pretend it doesn't exist.
Mostly, with each wound the heart closes bit by bit until we shut down.

When our heart shuts down, we no longer have the ability to fully give and receive the love we so deeply desire.

He Cannot Enter Your Closed Heart

A closed heart shows up in our lives in so many ways. Our love relationships seem to suffer the most.  We spend a lifetime subconsciously modifying ourselves to work around our heart wounds; protecting ourselves.

In ways too plentiful to list, this keeps us stuck in that space of fragility, and we avoid or close ourselves off from whatever or whoever might cause further discomfort or injury. It also keeps us from having any chance of attracting the kind of love we want and deserve.

A closed heart pushes your man or any man worth having away!

A closed heart greatly interferes with our capacity for intimacy and closeness.

Have you seen my favorite movie, AVATAR? If you haven't seen it, I highly suggest you rent it.
In the movie, the "Na'vi", the beautiful human-like but very blue creatures from Pandora, said hello to each other very differently than we do. Instead of shaking hands, they simply, but ever so intimately and openly say, "I SEE YOU". Also in the movie, the "Na'vi," ride dangerous dragon/horse-like creatures to hunt and to do battle. These creatures are quite unruly and uncontrollable....unless the Na'vi tamed them by connecting to their hearts.  Once that happened, teamwork between the 2 unlikely partners was seamless!

The moral of the story is… those beautiful beings suggest that by keeping an open heart, it is possible survive not only any peril that befell them, but that the key to everlasting love and the best life has to offer is to remain truly open-hearted.

As a Horse Whisperer and Love Whisperer, I understand that very powerful concept. I have learned that by being courageous enough to open ourselves up to hurt can we ultimately guard against it. And, although it might sound very foreign to you right now and may sound like a scary place of weakness, it is quite the opposite.

It can feel frightening to choose to be open-hearted.

Truly letting someone in means that you agree to be completely "SEEN."

Use my AVATAR Exercise to Draw Him Close

  • Sit quietly and turn your attention inward.
  • Concentrate on feeling your heartbeat.
  • Is it fast? Slow? Loud? Quiet?
  • Take a deep breath and as you exhale, imagine your heart-space energy expanding and moving outward into your chest. Imagine your heart is a pink balloon.
  • Inhale again and with each inhale breathe into your heart balloon and fill it up with love...and with each exhale, push the love out and into the rest of your body.
  • Repeat until your entire body is filled with love from your heart balloon.

Now with each inhale and exhale, expand your heart-balloon love energy beyond your body to the room you are in. With every inhale, make your heart-balloon grow larger and larger and stronger and stronger.  And with each exhale, expand your heart energy further and further...maybe even extend to the end of the earth...or farther!

Congratulations on Being Brave and Strong

The fact that you are willing to chance opening your heart with my powerful exercise tells me that you are a very brave and stronger than you give yourself credit for!

USE THIS EXERCISE when you want to draw that special man close.

How does this make you feel?

The first time you do the AVATAR exercise, you may feel a number of things. Do not worry if coupled with the love and serenity, intimacy and closeness you feel you may find conflicting feelings alsopresent. Old injuries might surface and start screaming at you. It cries, "I want to avoid this and run away and hide!”

DON'T SHUT DOWN!

Just notice the feelings and let them be there. Breathe.

It Is Only The Open Heart That Can Give And Receive LOVE

Just like the discomfort you feel in your leg muscles when they’re lit up from a challenging run or a grueling workout, maybe in this moment, you can show up to the discomfort in your heart muscle with the same willingness compassion and love that you show your out of shape body, knowing that by your efforts to open, address and truly see and feel it's pain, and not run... Your heart becomes ultimately stronger and more available to you and to that special great man you deserve.

I can say this with absolute certainty from all of my years of Whispering with humans and horses...

"If you want to love and be loved in the way you deserve, you must learn to open up and be unabashedly present and vulnerable."

At first it may feel uncomfortable, just like the dreaded first day at the gym on January 2. But with each exercise session, like all muscles, the heart becomes stronger and like all muscles, it starts craving the exercise.

Can you believe it?

Your heart starts naturally wanting to stay open!

Love in Whispers,

Katelyn
